Layne Gianakos has been an outspoken LGBTQ advocate and community organizer since 2006 when he became the youngest ever board member for the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network of Connecticut. Within his role as a student organizer he toured the state promoting safer schools for LGBTQ students via presentations, rallies, and educational workshops. His journey took him to a television appearance on the Fox Network and to The White House’s Pride Reception.
He has been working full-time in the LGBTQ non-profit sector since his graduation from The New School in 2015. Currently he serves as Anchor Health Initiative’s Transgender Care Case Manager and PrEP Navigator with the bulk of his work focusing on providing assistance and guidance to the transgender community as well as HIV prevention efforts and strategies across Connecticut. He is a super fan of both Stevie Nicks and Prince and enjoys finding moments to quote The Golden Girls.
