Dr. A.C. Demidont, brings with her a work history specializing in Infectious Diseases, HIV medicine as well as Transgender Medicine for adults and adolescents. Dr. Demidont completed medical school in 2000 at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, her Internal Medicine Residency at Pinnacle Health Hospitals in Harrisburg, PA and her fellowship in Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Dr. Demidont is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases and has been certified as and HIV Specialist by the American Academy of HIV Medicine since 2008. She has practiced as a physician since 2006, having worked in esteemed health centers such as St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital and Callen Lorde Community Health Center, both of which are located in New York City.
She currently is an assistant clinical Professor of Medicine at Quinnipiac University’s Frank K. Netter School of Medicine and the Yale University School of Nursing.
She serves as a member of several HIV prevention task forces in Connecticut and as a member of Yale University’s Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS New England Implementation Science Network. She lectures both for the Connecticut Department of Public Health on HIV prevention strategies and the New England AIDS Education and Training Network regarding Culturally Competent care for Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Individuals and has lectured internationally on ways to improve healthcare for the LGB and Transgender communities.
Dr. Demidont is carrying out her longtime career goal to help improve the quality of life for under-served and marginalized populations. Through her rich medical background, she brings a continuity of care as someone who practices medicine directed at improving the quality of life for adolescents and adults within the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender communities. Dr. Demidont has a strong STI and HIV prevention mission and works on several state and national work groups to enhance utilization of antiretrovirals as both Pre- and Post- Exposure for HIV and foster non-judgmental HIV and sexually transmitted diseases screenings for LGBQ and Transgender adolescents and adults.
Dr. Demidont also specializes in working with transgender and non-gender conforming individuals ages 13 and above by providing gender affirming hormone therapy, help with affirmation of gender on legal/travel documents, referrals to gender affirming surgeons and has worked with several university medical centers to improved care for gender diverse individuals.
